چکیده
Background: Atherogenic Index of Plasma (AIP) is a reliable predictor coronary artery disease. There paucity data on AIP and its correlates among patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) in Uganda.
Objective: To assess the profile cardiovascular risk factor T2D Methods: This was cross-sectional study conducted 8 health facilities established clinics Central-Uganda. The enrolled 500 aged 40 to 79 years. Data collected socio-demographic characteristics, lipid glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c). derived using log (triglycerides/high-density cholesterol) further categorised as low disease (CVD) if <0.1, intermediate (0.1-0.24) high (≥0.24). Cardiovascular factors were defined according international guidelines. Stata version 14 used analyse data, Pearson correlation analyses conducted. Statistical significance set at p<0.05.
 Results: 389(77.4%) females mean age 55.07±8. 979 Low-risk found 43.6%, 20.2% 36.2% participants. significantly correlated waist circumference (r=0.1095, p<0.0147), waist-hip ratio (r=0.1926, p<0.001), Casteri Risk I (r=0.506, r=<0.001), II (r=0.246, p<0.001) atherogenic coefficient (r=0.186, p<0.001). Insignificant observed between fasting blood sugar (r=0.017, p=0.7042), HBA1C (r=0.0108, p=0.8099) duration (r=0.0445, p=0.32)
Conclusions: elevated T2D. In clinical management, this may be useful tool stratifying T2D.

Atherogenic Index of Plasma, Castelli Risk Index and Atherogenic Coefficient- New Parameters in Assessing Cardiovascular Risk
Coronary artery disease is the epidemic of modern civilization in which dyslipidemia contributes significantly to its pathogenesis. We studied the significance of three important lipid ratios i.e. Atherogenic Index of Plasma (AIP) {(logTG)/HDLc}, Castelli’s Risk Index I & II (TC/HDLc and LDLc/HDLc respectively) and Atherogenic coefficient (AC) {(Non-HDLc)/HDLc} in predicting the risk of CAD. A ...
متن کاملAtherogenic Index of Plasma (AIP): A marker of cardiovascular disease
Background: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the cause of one third of deaths worldwide and this will progress because of increasing CVD's risk factors. The most basic task of dealing with the epidemic of CVD is primary prevention of risk factors. As Atherogenic Index of Plasma (AIP) is a strong marker to predict the risk of atherosclerosis and coronary heart disease, we assessed the correlat...
متن کاملPioglitazone reduces atherogenic index of plasma in patients with type 2 diabetes.
BACKGROUND Insulin resistance is often associated with increased triglyceride (TG) and decreased HDL-cholesterol (HDL-C) concentrations and increased small LDL particles. The Atherogenic Index of Plasma (AIP), defined as log(TG/HDL-C), has recently been proposed as a marker of plasma atherogenicity because it is increased in people at higher risk for coronary heart disease and is inversely corr...
متن کاملThe Effect of Aerobic Exercise on Cardiovascular Risk Factors in Women with Type 2 Diabetes
Objective: Cardiovascular complications are the major cause of reduced lifetime in diabetic patients. Given that physical activity can play an effective role in reducing these complications, the current study was conducted with the aim of examining the effects of 8 weeks of aerobic exercise on some cardiovascular risk factors in women with type 2 diabetes. Materials and Methods: Twenty women w...
